HK Memories:
Megastructures of Connections and Relations, 2024
Collage. Weaving. Drawing.
Reflecting on a moment in time within architecture education, this series of collages continue to examine the nylon bag’s connection with travel and Hong Kong culture, while also reflecting on the labour dynamics within the architecture industry. Depicting here are megastructures in Hong Kong such as the Airport, Cross Habour Tunnel, and the newly built West Kowloon highspeed rail station. By using different colour patterns to illustrate the infrastructures, it speaks about the hierarchical division between and visibility of the “starchitect”, designers and engineers, and construction workers of each project. It hopes to uncover the long design/ construction process of megastructures and bring attention to the massive team of labour involved.
